So You Think You Can Dance New Series. Or possibly, So You Think You Can Villify? Here is the controversial audition by two same-sex dancers before Nigel Lythgoe. The boys (one gay, one straight) are pretty good, although nowhere near as good as our own Alex & Adam on Strictly Dancing in 1995. Lythgoe is well entitled to prefer more masculine dancing, but he shoots himself in the foot when he concedes that individually they are rather good. Instead of talking up the positives of their versatility, these judges admit to being "confused" by which is the leader and which the follower. What happens next is dreadful, as the boys are partnered with females in a group number, with the suggestion "you might enjoy it”. Complete with unsubtle ‘It's Raining Men’ music from the producers, Lythgoe even admits the two boys might "alienate our audience”. Where is Jason Coleman when we need him? 8pm Friday on TEN. Serial Killer on Camera
In 1993, Colin Ireland had an 'ambition' to become a notorious serial killer. He studied them and consequently posed as an S&M master in gay British pubs. The men would allow Ireland to tie them up which ultimately led to their murder. But police failed to track him until he was eventually caught through CCTV and confessed to all of the murders. Ironically he never achieved his infamy because he pleaded guilty, or possibly because the victims weren't quite so 'respectable?' 8.30pm Sunday on Crime & Investigation Network. Desperate Housewives If you hadn't already noticed, Susan is now working beside a lesbian school teacher, played brilliantly by the underrated Swoosie Kurtz, who mistakes the friendship as implying something deeper. So there's a rather awkward scene culminating in a friendly smooch on the doorstep. Susan isn't sure how to respond to the gesture and in discussing it with Gaby winds up with a lot more than she bargained for. 8.30pm Monday on Seven. Family Guy About 1/3rd of the way into this ep, Peter snaffles $125 in a medical experiment that sees him injected with the 'gay' gene, suitably camping it up for the remainder of the plot. The irony is it's the pompously-spoken baby Stewie who is offended by his father's new identity. Just one gag is offensive (around the time of Peter's "eleven-way") the rest is wicked. 10.30pm Wednesday on Seven. Beautiful People Premiere. Move over Ugly Betty's Justin and get ready for truly camp telly. Jonathan Harvey (Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and Beautiful Thing) delivers a series based on the wild child memoirs of window-dresser extraordinaire Simon Doonan. In this ever-so-slightly twisted sitcom he charts 13-year-old Simon's oh so familiar dream to escape suburban Britain and live a glamorous life amongst the 'beautiful people'. In growing up he felt like everyone was part of a gang except himself, but notes: "The truth is, everyone is in a gang of one." 9.25pm Thursday on ABC2. And also Stephen Fry in Who Do You Think You Are? 7:30pm Friday SBS ONE; Rufus Wainright (again) on Spectacle: Elvis Costello With; San Remo Song Festival 1pm Saturday on SBS; Queen And Paul Rodgers: Live In The Ukraine 9:55pm Monday on ABC2; New series of Spooks.
