To all of the supporters and fans of Divine Divas who attended our recent shows at Crown Casino, we sincerely thank you. The cast and crew thoroughly enjoyed performing our shows for you and it was a great success. It has been a long, hard process of trying to create a unique female impersonation show that has overall appeal and interest to not only the gay and lesbian community, but also the heterosexual and theatre communities who also share a love of the stage. It is one thing to perform in a club where there are longstanding followings, but an entirely different thing to perform to a crowd with no preconceived relationship to the performers. This takes hard work. Divine Divas has been my passion for some time now, and to produce a show with an ensemble of 14 performers and a large team of backstage production staff has been an exhausting and consuming task. With the sudden loss of Vivien St James to cancer earlier this year, this task almost became too much. Yet my team have soldiered on and created what has been described, by many, as a fantastic production. We thank you. Impersonating 26 of music history’s greatest divas is a monster task for any cast of performers. I don’t suggest you try it – insanity will ultimately follow. Rewardingly for me though the show is continually evolving and growing stronger and stronger by the week, which is gratifying, and I often feel like a very proud parent. Personally, I have never worked with a more cohesive and dedicated cast of individuals in my career; sometimes I forget they are drag queens. They have restored my beliefs and reinvigorated my creativity in the art. Thanks for your continued support. Tina Sparkelle via email
