Melbourne diva Dame Nellie Melba, entrepreneur George Selth Coppin, impresario J. C. Williamson, the glamorous (and self-adulating) Nellie Stewart (pictured), Queen of Musical Comedy – ‘our Glad’, and the flamboyant Bland Holt are all represented at ‘Break a Leg’, an exhibition of Melbourne’s theatre greats from the past.

Indulge in displays of colourful costumes and costume designs, significant artefacts, never seen before archival material and artwork, including the iconic Madame Melba (c.1902) by Australian artist Rupert Bunny.

‘Break a Leg’ at City Museum, Old Treasury, Spring Street, City. June 6 to August 23, 2009.
