James Brown screams onto the screen in this electrifying new work documenting the wild concert that preceded the Ali vs Foreman 'Rumble in the Jungle' bout of 1974. Containing no contemporary interviews and very much a companion piece to Leon Gast's When We Were Kings, Soul Power is part concert film, part social commentary, but all sweat and pelvis. As such it captures a most explosive of musical moments with enormous precision. Also features Miriam Makeba. Soul Power at ACMI, Federation Square, May 21-24.
